As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, the Senior Director of Financial & Government Accounting for Blue Origin will lead Contractor Business Systems, Government Compliance matters, and Rate Submissions. Our leader will ensure underlying control structures along with the required Financial Policies, Procedures, and Controls are operating optimally and efficiently. This role will report to the Vice President, Controller for Blue Origin. The Role has direct reports of Government Compliance, Rates, and Internal Audit focus areas. Additionally, you will partner with the Blue Origin Business Unit Finance, Legal, Contracts, and Risk groups to build out processes cross-functionally for the organization.

Availability to work on site from our Kent, WA location is required. Relocation provided.

 

Responsibilities

  • The initial focus area will be Contractor Business Systems Compliance and implementation of current closure plans
  • Oversight and Ownership of Forward Pricing Rates, Incurred Cost Submissions, and Subsequent negotiations with the Administrative Contracting Office (ACO)
  • Develop expert-level knowledge of the business models to improve advisory opportunities and department value-add
  • Identify, test, and develop required policies, procedures, and training to address gaps across Finance
  • Maintain and support a high-performance environment with an operational execution focus
  • Partner to develop, maintain, and execute the Internal Audit Capability across GAAP reporting, Financial Controls, Environmental and sustainability governance plans
  • Engagement of Test Plans for key controls with the Controller, CEO, CFO, and SVPs to ensure coordination and collaboration on the requirements, expectations, and remedies are completed in operation
  • Develop and foster constructive professional relationships with executive and business management by partnering on test plans to ensure controls and preprocesses operate in a lean and effective manner
  • Develop and follow up on remediation plans to ensure no repeat findings and corrective actions are effective

 

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • 15+ years of experience in Finance & Accounting
  • 5+ years of experience in Regulated Control or Audit, to include leadership roles
  • People leadership experience.
  • Expert level understanding of government business systems (Estimating, Accounting, Purchasing, MMAS, and Government Property) and proven success crafting/maintaining approved government business systems
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Enterprise or business unit-level financial leadership experience in a matrixed environment
  • Prior experience as Controller and or P&L leadership
  • CPA / CMA
  • A mix of public, private, and start-up environment experience
  • Advanced expertise in audit at the enterprise or large business unit level
  • Deep understanding of Manufacturing Accounting and MRP-related processes

 

Compensation range for on site WA applicants is
$206,461.50$302,810.20 USD

Paid Time Off:  Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays for all regular employees (including part-time), fixed-term, and interns.

Discretionary bonus: Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
