This role is a part of Test & Flight Operations team, providing centralized support to Business Units with the focus on design, build and maintenance of the ground systems, test and launch facilities across multiple locations.
Our Space Mobility program is looking for expert personnel to join their ground system team. We are a complementary team of collaborators, doers, and problem-solvers who are relentlessly committed to a culture of safety. You’ll be a key developer for implementing a first of it's kind integrated ground system in the cloud. This work is essential to support flexible training efforts, for mission controllers and this contribution will ensure mission safety and success.Our work scope is broad and deep, forging the path toward our vision of millions of people living and working in space. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support the test, design and development of the integrated cloud infrastructure and mission operations ground system.
- Work with customers to understand requirements and iteratively design and develop applications and systems to meet system and software integration and test needs.
- Set up and maintain an automation test framework.
- Support cloud-based infrastructure-as-code development, DevOps automation and CI/CD pipelines to support automated testing.
- Configuration management of ground system software applications, including promotion of ground software into development, test and production environments.
- Evaluate and integrate cloud-based services as platforms for your work, including storage options, delivery networks, and message queues.
- Support with the Hardware Integration Lab and Software Integration Lab integration of flight avionics hardware and software.
- Diagnose and fix software problems at multiple levels, including installation, deployment, configuration, server side and client-side issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. in computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related technical field
- 5+ years of proven experience
- Proven skill at deploying production distributed systems to Amazon Web Services or similar using systems like Terraform, GitLab, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Experience with functional and regression testing of client/server applications, web applications and native applications.
- Strong and active development skills in C / C++ and Python
- Experience with REST API development and use
- Strong written and verbal social skills, with the ability to work with and communicate to a diverse user base.
- Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals like algorithms and data structures.
- Ability to solve problems by writing efficient working code, even when given incomplete or ambiguous requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
- Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development, review, deployment, and support phases of the software product lifecycle.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
- 8+ years industry experience on large engineering systems
- Experience with automation testing frameworks (i.e. Cucumber, Selenium, Cypress, Postman)
- Experience with distributed simulation implementation standards such as HLA or DIS.
- Experience writing software that efficiently handles the production, distribution and storage of large data sets.
- Experience developing software for hardware in the loop testing
- Strong debugging skills at the software/hardware boundary, and familiarity with software verification approaches
- Experience leading development of software simulation testbed for a sophisticated physical system
- Experience integrating with software simulation environments to support ground system software testing
- Experience developing, verifying, certifying and releasing mission and safety-critical software systems.
- Experience with mission operations and ground data systems
- Familiarity with target hardware platforms (e.g. ARM)
- Familiarity with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS), Board Support Packages (BSPs)
- Experience using and customizing continuous integration systems
- Familiarity with electrical and electronic engineering concepts
- Solid understanding of IP networking concepts
- Experience with communications protocols and hardware drivers
- Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Development (CI/CD - e.g. Gitlab, Jenkins)
- Experience with tools such as DOORs Next Generation (DNG), Gitlab, SVN, Docker, Jenkins, Docker Compose, Packer, Kubernetes, Ansible

Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays for all regular employees (including part-time), fixed-term, and interns.
Discretionary bonus: Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
