This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security and human spaceflight. As part of a diverse and hardworking team of systems problem solvers, you will directly support Blue Origin’s success by leading pivotal initiatives that support effective development, test, verification, certification and operations of a portfolio of engine tools that impact a variety of engine programs. Your role will consist of working with key stakeholders within the Engines Business Unit to 1) identify new digital solution opportunities, 2) define the problem, 3) generate and evaluate solutions, 4) developing roadmaps, and 5) supervising the implementation of software solutions supporting our digital engineering transformation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Understand user’s needs and behaviors through collaborative research methodologies, interviews, and workshops to identify new opportunities and solutions around the future of safe, reliable, reusable propulsion systems

Develop strategies and approaches to that will enable capabilities of the future. Use prototyping & experimentation to drive decision-making and measure the impact of the experiences we’re building quantitatively

Collaborate closely with cross functional team-members and a broad set of stakeholders (internal and external) from business executives, design and research partners, product owners, and engineer teams through an iterative design process for framing, problem-solving, and synthesis of design problems.

Establish, document and improve processes and products specific to propulsion engineering consistent with innovative processes while maintaining the speed, agility and efficiency of a startup operation. The processes established will support collecting vital compliance data, improve cycle time, user acceptance, and will reduce defects and rework

Champion thoughtful, comprehensive experiences and create clear and concise design strategy for achieving them across emerging and often ambiguous intersections of technology and human experiences

Scout and propose innovative technologies in a wide variety of business areas (e.g., engineering, analysis. manufacturing, testing, verification)

Develop and communicate tool roadmaps and plans to leadership and partners

Evaluate and facilitate commercial software purchases and deployment in a fast-paced environment

Basic Qualifications
-
Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
-
10+ years track record of building software or digital solutions across all phases of the software life cycle
-
Aerospace industry experience or equivalent
-
Experience leading agile software development teams as a product owner, product manager or portfolio manager
-
Experience developing software strategies
-
Proven track record of developing cohesive, compelling strategic visions for experience, product, and service challenges

Support up to 10% domestic travel to engage key partners and support training
-
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
-
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired Qualifications

Systems engineering and aerospace engineering experience
-
Experience in digital engineering

Ability to communicate at all levels within a matrix organization - Experience working with senior leadership and key partners to lead business changes

Experience developing applications around enterprise systems (e.g., Windchill, Doors, ERP, MRP, Creo, Jama, Jira, eQube, Syndeia) and their APIs

Shown thought and domain leadership within human spaceflight

Benefits
Employee Benefits include: Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave (must be employed at time of birth or adoption), short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program available after 1 year of service.
Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays for all regular employees (including part-time), fixed-term, and interns.
Discretionary bonus: Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
