We are looking for a CAD PCB Designer or PCB Design Technician within our Satellite Systems team at our Montreal office.

Your role as a PCB designer will be to support all rigid and flexible PCB design activities using a computer-aided design (CAD) tool. You will work under the supervision of qualified engineers, senior technicians and technologists. You will interact with manufacturing, mechanical and electrical engineers to design highly reliable printed circuit boards (PCBs) used in the aerospace industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists PCB design professionals in developing board schematics.
  • Assists the CAD bookseller in the administration of part symbols, geometries and database entries.
  • Creates PCB layer overlays that meet all design requirements.
  • Places and interconnects ("route") parts ensuring that all electrical and physical specifications meet the specific requirements of the PCB.
  • Works with interface constraints defined by mechanical engineers to develop optimal layouts.
  • Interacts with manufacturing engineers to ensure compliance with all IPC standards and MDA requirements for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Rework PCB designs when changes are made to the design and help the team of design professionals by coming up with ideas to solve problems.
  • Participates in the production of drawings and documentation for the manufacture and assembly of PCBs.

 

Minimum qualifications required:

  • AEC or DEC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with EDA (Electronic Circuit Design Automation) CAD design tools such as Mentor Graphics Xpedition (preferred), Cadence Allegro, PADS Layout, Altium, OrCAD, etc.
  • Good understanding of PCB manufacturing and assembly processes.

Desirable skills:

  • Experience designing high-density multilayer boards, with an assortment of high-power, digital and RF circuits.
  • Ability to interact and communicate clearly with many different technical disciplines.
  • Ideally, fluency in French and English.

Special considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and hold a security clearance at the reliability status level and pass the security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
