Lunar Transportation: This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.   

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers you will work as a System Integrator within the System Integration and Analysis Team on the lunar lander, focusing on the integration of communication subsystems. You will lead cross-functional trade studies, run integrated analyses, and define interfaces that impact the design and integration of the spacecraft. You should expect that this foundational part of our vision will require your excellent communication and teamwork.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Act as the negotiator between multiple and sometimes conflicting interests to ensure the optimization of the spacecraft 
  • Contribute to or lead system architecture studies, concept developments, verification planning, vehicle integration, and operations support
  • Support the design, developments and test of the avionics communication system
  • Coordinate communication system constraints and conflicting requirements across multiple subject areas
  • Ensure coordination of communication design changes and associated impacts across subsystems
  • Analyze telemetry data needs for spacecraft and apply necessary refinements to fit telemetry data within spacecraft’s data budget
  • Contribute to the definition of pointing budget and pointing error analysis for communication system
  • Identify program risks and associated mitigations

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science, or related technical subject area
  • Working knowledge of high-fidelity link budgets using excel, Matlab, STK, or other software
  • Highly knowledgeable of systems engineering practices, integration processes, and mission/safety critical systems
  • Strong ability and desire to analyze complex systems and deliver solutions to results-oriented problems
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep technical knowledge in communication subsystems in spacecrafts and familiarity with space rated communication hardware/software and how they integrate
  • M.S. in Aerospace, Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related technical subject area
  • Experience with human-rated spacecraft
  • 4+ years of proven experience
  • Experience with full spacecraft design life cycle
  • Working knowledge of simulation software like HFSS for antenna placement studies, antenna pattern simulations, ray tracing simulations, and other RF studies
  • Working knowledge of space environments and the process to space qualify a communication flight unit

 

Compensation range for on site WA applicants is
$111,690$163,812 USD

Paid Time Off:  Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays for all regular employees (including part-time), fixed-term, and interns.

Discretionary bonus: Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
