As part of a unique and highly-skilled team, you will develop and review/approve system safety work products and hazardous procedures for launch complex operations to ensure safety and mission success. You must have a passion for operations, mission assurance, a commitment to the fundamentals of system safety, and a strong capacity to work collaboratively on complex and interesting new problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop O&SHAs for launch complex operations
  • Review and approve operations and maintenance procedures for launch complex operations
  • Train and coach engineers on identifying and analyzing system safety operational risks
  • Work with systems engineering and subsystem cognizant engineers to identify and verify compliance with system safety operational requirements.
  • Evaluate and perform reviews of system safety analyses including FHAs, HAZOPs, FMECAs, and FTAs
  • Provide safety oversight of hazardous launch complex operations
  • Interpret external standards including AFSPCMAN 91-710, NASA, FAA, MIL-STD-882, and ARP-4761.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.Sc. degree in aerospace engineering or related field
  • 6+ years engineering experience in the aerospace industry with 4+ years system safety or reliability engineering experience performing FHAs, PSSAs, O&SHAs, HAZOPs, FMEA/FMECAs, FTAs, & CCAs
  • 4+ years experience in the following functional areas:
    • Large missile, space vehicle, rocket, torpedo, prelaunch, launch, post-launch operations and/or recovery operations
    • System safety hazard analysis and/or design or research and development testing of ordnance, explosives, other types of munitions, pyrotechnics, cryogenic, toxic/hypergolic propellants, high pressure gases, radioactive materials or other hazardous systems/components
    • Preparation and/or review, approval, and oversight of hazardous operating procedures for space vehicle, missile and/or weapons systems
  • Experience with multiple safety standards including (NASA, FAA, AFSPCMAN 91-710, SAE ARP-4761, MIL-STD-882,)
  • Strong safety and mission assurance fundamentals
  • Experience interpreting and assessing compliance to regulatory requirements and guidance
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Professional Engineer or Certified Safety Professional
  • Experience with a variety of complex aerospace or launch vehicle systems
  • On-console operations experience

Paid Time Off:  Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays for all regular employees (including part-time), fixed-term, and interns.

Discretionary bonus: Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
