As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will support the manufacture of Thermal Protection Systems flight hardware for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of transforming the way rockets are made and operated. Responsibilities:

  • Work with development team to establish new facility and stand-up qualifying production line, assisting with equipment receipt and startup
  • Develop skills required and learn new manufacturing processes
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to engineering specifications
  • Work with engineering to document and standardize production processes; including reviewing work instructions and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Take ownership of all aspects of the shop environment, ensuring team safety, optimizing productivity, maintaining product quality and team cohesiveness towards the end goal of maintaining schedule
  • Ensure area meets strict FOD and 5S requirements, perform routine maintenance functions such as daily clean-up of work areas
  • Work in adherence to all Blue Origin specifications relative to critical flight components
  • Qualify and complete the OJT requirements to operate the area specific machinery and perform required processes for manufacture of carbon composites
  • Setup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools including, but not limited to, torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser tracker, height gauges and optical measuring instruments
  • Work in compliance with area hazardous materials use, processing, and safety which includes the use of respirators and protective clothing
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency
  • Work off-shift, extended hours overtime, and weekends if/when necessary
  • Other duties as assigned or otherwise beneficial to fulfilling the mission and vision

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in the fabrication, assembly and test of aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle systems components, or equivalent relevant industry experience
  • Experience with the development and manufacture of Thermal Protection Systems
  • Experience operating and maintaining clean rooms, furnace, autoclave, waterjet, CNC machinery, or similar manufacturing machinery
  • Must have a continuous improvement mind set
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills with the ability to drive projects with minimal oversight
  • Approachable disposition, broad-minded and open to rapid changing requirements
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired:

  • Hands on experience with carbon-carbon development and/or manufacture
  • Manufacturing experience utilizing and troubleshooting CNC machinery
  • Deep fundamental understanding of Aerospace manufacturing
  • Experience with Creo Parametric, Creo View, Windchill, and timekeeping software applications

Paid Time Off:  Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays for all regular employees (including part-time), fixed-term, and interns.

Discretionary bonus: Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
