The Position

We’re on the hunt for a GSE Embedded Maintenance Software Engineer/MTS on our Robotics & Space Operations team at our Brampton office.

With 40 years of operational experience and proven performance on the iconic Canadarm programs including Space Shuttle and International Space Station robotics and operations support, our Robotics & Space Operations team has 100% mission success in making space dreams come true.

As our GSE Embedded Maintenance Software Engineer/MTS, you will be part of the team responsible for maintaining our Ground Support Equipment (GSE) hardware used to certify new flight software updates. This hardware is a critical component of the Manipulator Servicing System (MSS) and is directly responsible for ensuring mission success for our valued customers.

Responsibilities:

As a member of a cross-disciplinary team, you will work alongside members from our electrical and operations teams to:

  • Diagnose test failures to determine the root cause
  • Propose corrective actions to address failures
  • Support the decision making process to decide on corrective actions to be implemented
  • Implement the software solution for chosen corrective actions
  • Participate in estimation efforts for new tasks
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to improve coding standards, tools, processes, etc.
  • Other duties as will be assigned from time to time by management or a team lead

Requirements:

Required Skills/Experience

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Understand correlation of high level source code to assembly
  • Interpret assembly effects on hardware (preference for Intel 8086)
  • Understanding of correlation between SW and low level HW (signals, DAC, ADC, etc.)
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Work with electrical test equipment (multi-meters, oscilloscopes, function generators, etc.)
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor degree in Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and a positive thinker

Beneficial Skills/Experience

  • One of more of the following high level languages
    • Visual Basic
    • C/C++
  • 1553 bus experience
  • Intel 8086 assembly experience
