Software Development Engineer

Maxar has an immediate opportunity for a Software Developer to join a team creating innovative software for the Intelligence Community

Project - We're supporting a well-established DoD customer that works on a critical and high-visibility missions designing, developing, and fielding cutting-edge sensor technologies. Our team is tremendously talented, and we need to add a full-time Software Development Engineer with a strong foundation in modeling and simulation to work on the growing number of requirements.

You will work with your teammates on tasks such as: 

• Develop new software in collaboration with scientists and domain experts from novel algorithm definitions and prototypes in the fields of mathematics, aerospace engineering, image processing, and geospatial analysis. 

• Work with program teams to plan future operations and support current sensor system design and fielding. 

• Practice and improve on agile development methodologies and tools 

• Work with a multi-disciplinary team to compile complex products to inform leadership on technical risks and chances for success of projects. 

• Brief customer project, program and senior leadership, as well as mission partners on modeling efforts, results, conclusions and recommendations. 

Minimum Requirements for this position: 

• Must have current/active TS/SCI security clearance and be willing and able to obtain CI Polygraph. 

• Must be US Citizen with Current/active TS/SCI security clearance with required Polygraph. 

• Bachelor’s degree in related field (4 additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree. Years applied to an advanced degree (e.g., Masters = 2 years) may also be substituted for equivalent years of experience.). 

• Strong programming skills in C++, Python, and other programming languages 

• Recent (within the last two years) development experience using Agile development practices.   

Additional Credentials that are desired: 

• Experience developing and debugging local executables written in Qt or similar frameworks. 

• Data science/image and video processing experience using OpenCV or similar technologies 

• Experience with Digital Signal Processing,  Matlab, AWS, RESTful APIs, RESTful Web Services, Orchestration and Containerization (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker). 

• Experience with building containerized microservices and web applications with Docker and Kubernetes. 

• Familiarity building REST APIs with a back-end framework such as Django or Flask. 

• Functional knowledge using version control with Git. 

• Recent experience with some of the following technologies: Performing complex modeling, Machine Learning, complex statistical analysis, R or related software packages, creating code and models. 

• Knowledge of one or more of the following fields: Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Electro-Optical (EO), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Full-motion video (FMV), or Geospatial Data. 

• Experience with ArcGIS, ERDAS Imagine, STK, SIMDIS, Global Mapper, ENVI, QT Modeler and/or SocetGXP. 

• Experience supporting the DoD and the Intelligence Community. 

• Experience supporting the development of technical sensors and the processing of collected data
