EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for an Engineer III - Systems in our Hughes Network Systems division. This position is located at our office in San Diego, CA

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform a lead role for the planning and execution of the installation, administration, monitoring and maintenance of the IT systems and infrastructure comprising the HughesNet networks, external networks, and assigned Network Operation Centers employing expertise with servers, security hardware, and virtualization tools operating on the Linux operating system. 
• Develop overall plans and implement the system solutions to optimize the performance and reliability of the network security infrastructure applying knowledge of network firewalls (Fortinet) and related security tools. 
• Plan and coordinate the implementation of new network products into the production environment, to include pre-deployment verification, and integration with existing hardware and network applications.
• Plan and conduct research and make recommendations for the continuous network process improvements to include evaluating the proposals and products of external vendors to ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures and qualifying new network software and tools provided by vendors for use on the network. 
• Plan and implement network automation solutions, employing configuration tools such as Ansible and Bash Shell Scripting to address repetitive network management tasks. 
• Be responsible for maintaining network equipment inventory and configuration records, including software version tracking, and ensure compliance with all software licensing requirements. 
• Execute high level planning related to the load balancing of networks employing knowledge of Local Traffic Management (LTM), F5 LTM tools; deliver plans for network traffic steering solutions to be implemented on multi-data center environments.   
• Perform a direct technical liaison role to the business users of the network, interact directly with end-users to establish network requirements and feature sets; plan network capacity and configurations to meet business user needs; and be responsible for scheduling the necessary resources to ensure continuous network maintenance. 
• Evaluate opportunities for network optimization through the use of virtualization platforms, create and implement plans to meet expected end-user growth employing virtualization tools such as VMWare, vCenter and Virtual Machines. 
• Provide network management analysis and guidance to resolve process and product problems that may impact overall network operations; recommend new concepts and approaches to management to improve the quality of networks and services.

Basic Requirements: 

• Master’s degree in a field of Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Telecommunications and six months of experience in the position, or in a related Network and Computer Systems Administration, or Network Engineering occupation. 
• As an alternative, a Bachelor’s degree in a field of Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Telecommunications and 5 years of experience in the position, or in a related Network and Computer Systems Administration, or Network Engineering occupation will be acceptable.

Specific Technical Requirements:

• Six months of domain experience acquired in the broadband data network industry.
• Six months of experience gained with implementing Fortinet firewall solutions.
• Six months of experience gained with Bash Shell scripting and the Ansible configuration tool.
• Six months of experience gained with VMWare network virtualization tools.

Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.

Compensation Range

Annual Salary: $96,000.00 - $128,000.00
