EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a Program Director – Implementation and Launch in our Hughes Network Systems division. Hughes is a leading provider of satellite products and services that recently announced disruptive in-flight entertainment and connectivity solutions for airlines. This position plays a pivotal role in leading critical programs for the aviation industry and is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation and launch of solutions across the Hughes customer base. The Program Director will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive projects to completion while maintaining a commitment to quality and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Implementation and Launch:
- Manage the installation and retrofits of in-flight connectivity systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards. Coordinate with installation teams, partners, and vendors to guarantee smooth and efficient installation processes.
- Manage the overall relationship with OEM partners and aircraft manufacturers. Oversee linefit projects to integrate connectivity systems seamlessly during the aircraft production process.
- Lead and manage software implementation and software baseline management across the organization, ensuring all deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and key stakeholders, providing regular updates and ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
- Work with regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders to establish Part-21 and Part-145 certification for the organization.
- Leadership:
- Manage, grow, and mentor a team of program managers.
- Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives to establish PMO best practices within the organization.
- Work with internal stakeholders to implement rigorous quality control processes to guarantee the reliability, performance, and safety of in-flight connectivity systems.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Identify potential risks in program execution and develop mitigation plans to drive risks to closure.
- Anticipate and proactively address programmatic, technical, and implementation issues that arise during project development.
- Budget and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring cost control and resource allocation.
- Optimize resource utilization to achieve program objectives efficiently.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field
- 15+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of all phases of the aviation product lifecycle, including design, development, testing, certification, production, maintenance and support.
- Ability to influence a variety of stakeholders to establish concurrence.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Knowledge of FAA/EASA STC processes.
- Prior experience with linefit and retrofit programs in the aviation industry
Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
