Job ID: 654287BR Date posted: Nov. 02, 2023 Program: ATC
Description:At the dawn of a new space age, Lockheed Martin is a pioneer, partner, innovator and builder. Our amazing people are on a mission to make a difference in the world and every single day we use our unique skills and experiences to create, design and build solutions to some of the world’s hardest engineering problems. Do you want to be part of a culture that inspires employees to think big, perform with excellence and build incredible products? We provide the resources, inspiration and focus - if you have the passion and courage to dream big, then we want to build a better tomorrow with you.
The Advanced Technology Center (ATC) is the research lab for Lockheed Martin Space. Through our own skills and those of our partners—including universities and research labs around the world—we are able to put vision in motion. While we are a part of LM's space division, our technologies are far-reaching across domains. Napkin sketches of lasers that can shoot down UAVs—we made it real. Changing molecules so metals behave differently? We invented that. ATC’s story is written in the success of missions here on Earth and far, far into space. Our innovation extends beyond incremental change. We strive for first-of-a-kind capability with enduring impact. Whatever the application, our charter is to create game-changing technologies. At the ATC, we are inspiring change in our endless pursuit of what is next.
What is your mission?
As a Research scientist, you will support existing LM programs and internal research & development efforts, enabling project advancement and smooth transition of emerging technologies.
In this role, you will work with guidance from project leaders and technical leads to:
• Research, analyze, and develop new technologies, techniques, and systems for: intelligence, surveillance, & reconnaissance (ISR) remote sensing systems, directed energy weapons (DEW), atmospheric sensing, LIDAR, navigation & proximity operations, target tracking & identification, spectroscopy, and/or other applications.
• Support systems integration activities and implement products to assist in increasing sensing, mission planning, command & control, etc. functionality for existing LM products and platforms
• Perform technical writing for reports and proposals, prepare & deliver presentations, interact with team members & customers, and support technical development projects.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, internal & external customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
We are looking for someone with a strong problem solving mindset: ability to develop creative solutions to difficult problems often requiring integration of conflicting and, at times, ambiguous or incomplete data on a fast-paced schedule. You should have the ability to effectively communicate complex information, technical decisions, and issues to both highly technical and non-technical colleagues including customers, team members, and suppliers. We are also looking for the ability to build and maintain relationships, collaborate with others and manage interpersonal dynamics. You should be comfortable working in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment.
