Position Title: Mid-level Astrodynamics Programmer
Position Description:
Omitron develops and maintains multiple sets of astrodynamics software used to track objects in Earth orbit. Our software produces the two-line elements and high accuracy catalog for the US Space Force, representing a majority of trusted orbital space data currently available. Our software extends from daily operations into advanced science and operational capabilities. With the growth of the space industry, Omitron’s developers have been tasked at an increasing pace to modify and deploy these software suites. This position will work with our senior astrodynamics engineer to create and update highly technical applications related to tracking and maintaining orbits. This position will also support research and integration of our astrodynamics software into space-track systems such as telescopes and radars. This position is for an astrodynamics expert with coding capabilities looking to grow in a key position at the heart of the current space-track industry.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience using astrodynamics software to model or predict orbits
- Previous experience in algorithm development
- Previous experience in software development
- Technical coding experience in Fortran
- Ability to think critically and act with personal initiative
- Experience working on RedHat or SUSE Linux
- Must be located within commuting distance from Colorado Springs, CO
Desired Skills:
- 10+ years of experience using astrodynamics software to model or predict orbits
- Previous experience in creating and executing software test and validation plans
- Technical coding experience in any of the following: C, MATLAB, Python, Shell scripting
- Experience working on Agile software teams
- Operational experience using the Astrodynamics Support Workstation (ASW) software
- Data analytics experience
- Familiarity with Space Force units and missions
- DoD Secret security clearance
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (i.e., Security+ CE)
Education: Required – Advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) in Astrodynamics, Orbital Mechanics, or a related field
Years of Experience: 5 or more years of experience creating applications
Clearance Level: Must be able to attain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance. Preferred candidates will have at least a DoD Secret clearance
