Senior Software Developer

Omitron is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fulfill a full-time position as a Senior Software Developer to support NASA’s Conjunction Assessment and Risk Analysis (CARA) team. You will work with a friendly, motivated team driven to continuously improve our knowledge, workflows, and processes to help NASA and our risk mitigation mission. Our Development Team is tightly integrated with the system operators who provide direct feedback, with the impact of your development getting seen immediately. You must collaborate with engineers, operators, analysts, and other developers to identify short-term and long-term needs and solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong code review, interpersonal, and communications skills.

Essential Functions:

• Develop and maintain operational systems that meet multiple customer requirements
• Determine and analyze requirements for various systems
• Architect new features
• Troubleshoot system issues on a real-time operational system
• Perform code and system reviews
• Improve operations by introducing system enhancements and recommending changes
• Create test plans and perform functional system testing and integration

Required Skills:

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a fast-paced team
• Experience in various languages including C#, Python, React, TSX, SQL, and Matlab
• Proficient at coding, unit tests, debugging, and software configuration management
• Perform code and system reviews/audits
• Experience developing code for cloud-based systems, microservices, automation, databases, etc.
• Experience with web development (both front and back end)

Desired Skills:

• Experience with agile software methodologies
• Leadership and mentorship experience
• Knowledge of version control systems including Jira and Git
• Understanding of performance optimization techniques
• High levels of creativity and problem solving

Required Experience: +8 years developing for various systems

Required Degree: BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical degree

Job Location: Hybrid with on-site location in Greenbelt, MD (NASA Goddard Space Flight Center)
