The Optical Payload Center of Excellence (OPCoE) enables new frontiers in visible-light and infrared systems, missile defense, space exploration and much more. Our members integrate authorities across the nation, within Lockheed Martin, our industry partners and leading research universities, into one fast-acting, collaborative group.

Some of your responsibilities as an Electro-Optical Engineer will include:
- Specific assignments may include deriving and documenting design requirements
- Performing trade studies
- Developing interface and cable diagrams
- Part selection
- Creating full interface and cable design using modeling software.
- Additional assignments may include testing hardware and troubleshooting, if necessary, to support anomaly resolution during integration, test and production.

Candidates for this role would typically have 4+ years' experience with a Bachelor's degree, 2+ years' experience with a Master's degree.

Although this position does support some teleworking; the preferred candidate will be located near our Lockheed Martin Space facility in Louisville, CO or Sunnyvale, CA, and be expected to work in the office as needed and as appropriate.
Basic Qualifications:
To be successful, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:


- Bachelor of Science or higher from an accredited college in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; or equivalent experience/combined education.

- Knowledge or experience in design, manufacturing and/or integration with strong understanding of electronic/electrical engineering.

- Knowledge or experience in CAD, CREO or Zuken E3 modeling and drafting.

- Ability to understand electrical circuits, interfaces, and interconnect diagrams.

- You will need to be a US Citizen, and be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD TOP SECRET clearance, to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in wire harness/cable design.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Experience with Zuken design software.

- Hands-on experience using electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.).

- Experience supporting the technical evaluation of design and requirements.

- Experience in different phases of electronic component development cycles.

- Proven understanding of electronics standards and processes for MIL-SPEC harness and cable design.

- Ability to interact with hardware engineers and designers to ensure mission requirements are satisfied.

- Active Secret or Top Secret clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $89,600 - $171,800. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full time employees: accrue 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO); receive 40 hours of Granted PTO annually for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $103,100 - $194,300. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
