York Space Systems is seeking a Systems Engineering Lead to manage mission operations.  As the direct supervisor of the Missions Operations team, the ideal candidate must be technically competent and have strong people skills.  This role will interface directly with multiple government and commercial customers for mission operations coordination, strategy, planning, and execution.  The SE lead will be accountable for the growth and development of the mission operations team and responsible for the strategy and execution of the missions at all phases of the program lifestyle.  As the manager of a flexible team, you will be required to lead by example and be flexible in work hours when necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure delivery of all necessary documentation and procedures for mission operations and spacecraft mission planning, including customer coordination.
  • Prioritize and coordinate SMEs for operational planning and preparedness, including anomaly response and software issues.
  • Manage and coordinate SW installation on remote sites.
  • Support mission integration into the operations centers as required per program.
  • Lead the execution of trending and monitoring telemetry data, developing trending tools and methods, and ensure alignment with engineering SMEs.
  • Hire, manage, and develop Mission Operators to ensure full coverage of ongoing York missions.
  • Generate budget and staffing forecasting. Lead the team to ensure quality execution and timing of on-console tasks for real-time operations and anomaly investigations across  multiple missions.
  • Coordinate calendars for on-console support during LEOP.
  • Manage and coordinate communication between remote and our local sites during set up and operations.
  • Plan and run rehearsals ahead of launch.
  • Drive a culture of continual improvement within our mission operations team.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 7-10+ years of experience in Systems Engineering and the Space Industry.
  • 2+ years of experience managing people or indirectly leading teams.
  • Active Security Clearance 
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Willing to work off hours and lead by example as required.
  • Strong knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, orbit dynamics, and ground systems.
  •  Some experience with the following:
    • Telemetry analysis and trending
    • Electrical power and communication systems
    • Space situational awareness
    • Command and data handling
    • Flight and ground software
    • Network administration / data management
