Pixxel is a space data company building a health monitor for our planet. We are doing that by deploying a constellation of some of the world's most advanced earth imaging satellites in lower earth orbit and an analytics platform (on ground) with tools that enable easy application of this data across a multitude of sectors. Our fully deployed constellation will be capable of beaming down daily imagery of any place on earth.


Pixxel is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Hyperspectral Image Quality Assessment/Quality Control Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing the quality of hyperspectral images and ensuring that they meet the required standards. This role requires a strong technical background in hyperspectral imaging, image processing, statistical analysis, and logical reasoning.


Responsibilities:

  • Creation and curation of quality standards for Pixxel hyperspectral data products at multiple levels
  • Define, develop, implement, and improve quality assesment/control protocols/algorithms for satellite-based hyperspectral images.
  • Assess the quality of hyperspectral images, including spectral, spatial, and temporal resolution, signal-to-noise ratio, and other relevant parameters.
  • Identify issues with image quality and recommend corrective actions.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and ensure that image quality standards are met.
  • Conduct statistical analysis on hyperspectral image data to identify patterns and trends.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of quality assessment procedures and results.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to improve image acquisition, processing, and analysis.
  • Stay current with developments in hyperspectral imaging technology and research.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics or related field.
  • Strong technical background in hyperspectral imaging, image processing, and statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or MATLAB
  • Experience with hyperspectral imaging systems and data analysis software such as ENVI or Matlab Hyperspectral Toolbox.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


Overall, the Hyperspectral Image Quality Assessment/Quality Check Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring that hyperspectral imaging data are accurate, reliable, and of the highest quality. The ideal candidate will have a combination of technical expertise, analytical skills, and attention to detail, as well as strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
