What are the limits of innovation and exploration? How do we continue to evolve as a species?

 

SUMMARY:  Our team is looking for a Senior GNC Engineer to support the design, development, assembly, integration, test, validation, flight production and operations of our Guidance, Navigation, and Control System for Axiom Station modules. The role requires a strong technical background, organizational time management, and adept communication skills.

 

This position has multiple job openings (and may be filled at multiple levels).

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the development of the GNC system
  • Support the development of GNC algorithms and simulation models to verify GNC system
  • Support the Monte Carlo analysis required to satisfied requirements
  • Use modeling, analysis, and simulation tools to determine system performance and ensure compliance

Education & Experience

 

  • S. in Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience
  • S. or Ph.D. in Engineering or related field 
  • Experience developing spacecraft GN&C systems for space vehicles
  • Significant C++, Python, and MATLAB programming experience
  • Experience developing spacecraft guidance algorithms and trajectories
  • Experience with controller development, stability analysis, and thruster-select logic
  • Experience developing spacecraft, environment, and sensor simulation models
  • Experience developing Kalman Filters
  • Experience with GN&C hardware including IMU, GPS, Star Trackers, and LIDAR
  • Experience with SWIL and HWIL testing and integration
  • Experience with NASA’s Trick simulation framework
  • Experience with JSC Engineering Orbital Mechanics (JEOD)
  • Experience working in a multi-function team in an Agile environment

 

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

 

Requirements 

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
