CAD / PLM Manager

Summary

The CAD / PLM Manager oversees the Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) processes and infrastructure for the company to promote ease of collaboration, standardization, and quality control of all design documentation.  The CAD / PLM Manager will work directly with relevant design engineers to standardize and integrate system and subsystem models into the overall design drawings and models of our Dauntless space launch vehicle and its Ground Support Equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage CAD implementation into PLM collaboration software. Build, organize, and maintain templates, standards, server and folder structures, supporting files, and archives.
  • Develop, implement and monitor CAD design standards, procedures, and best practices across the company.
  • Perform final check and review of all CAD files and drawings, making sure that every drawing is legible, professional, and adheres to relevant standards.
  • Manage and control company CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software, including updates, installation, and licensing.
  • Provide CAD training and support to project engineers.
  • Participate with internal design reviews as well as reviews with colleagues and suppliers.
  • Utilize computer-aided drafting and design software for design, drafting, modeling, and other engineering tasks as required.

 

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in engineering, CAD, IT, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with design, drafting, and analysis using CAD software
    • A formal CAD design certification and a total of 7 years relevant experience can substitute for the Associates degree.
  • Demonstrated experience with PLM software operations and management.
  • Detailed understanding of CAD templates, standards, and configuration.
  • Ability to work well in an integrated, fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
  • Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as necessary.
  • Highly organized work with strong attention to detail.
  • US Person as defined in 22 CFR Part 120.15 (U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and those given asylum in the United States, and temporary residents granted amnesty) since work includes ITAR controlled technical data.


Preferred Skills and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or relative technical certifications.
  • Demonstrated experience with Siemens NX in an aerospace design environment.
  • Familiarity with aerospace design, CAD, and drawings standards
  • Experience with collaboration suites such as Siemens Teamcenter and/or other PLM suites.
  • Strong communications skills with all levels of staff.
  • Experience with programming or IT support a plus.
