Experienced Mechanical Engineer for Astroscale Israel

Astroscale is the first private company with a vision to secure the safe and sustainable development of space for the benefit of future generations, and the only company solely dedicated to on-orbit servicing across all orbits. 
 
Founded in 2013, Astroscale is developing innovative and scalable solutions across the spectrum of on-orbit servicing missions, including life extension, in-situ space situational awareness, end-of-life services, and active debris removal, to create sustainable space systems and mitigate the growing and hazardous buildup of debris in space. Astroscale is also defining business cases and working with government and commercial stakeholders to develop norms, regulations, and incentives for the responsible use of space. 

Astroscale Israel is a subsidiary of Astroscale U.S. developing the cutting-edge technologies of Rendezvous and docking in space for satellites life extension and additional In Orbit Services. 

We are looking for an experienced mechanical engineer to join our team for the development our new space-robotics mechanisms.  

 

 

Job description: 

• Design & develop of space mechanisms from concept to a space qualified product. 
• Responsibility for Interface Control Document (ICD). 

• Produce detailed drawings of parts and assemblies. 
• Definition & documentation of specifications, requirements, assembly and test procedures. 
• Verify functionality and performance of new parts and assemblies. 
• Prepare & participate in design reviews. 
• Lead concept and feasibility studies 

• Hands-on assembly, integration and testing. 

Education:  

• B.Sc. in Mechanical/Aerospace Eng. 
• M.Sc. – an advantage 

 

Required skills & experience: 

• At least 8 years of experience in mechanical design, including minimum 4 years in mechanisms. 
• Experience with light weight aerospace structural design. 
• High level of knowledge in kinematics, dynamics, strength, heat transfer & materials selection. 
• Experience with procedures & qualification methods. 

• Knowledge of manufacturing technologies.  
• Knowledge of composite materials is an advantage. 
• Innovative and creative thinker. 
• Proficiency in CAD software. 
• Proficiency knowledge of English. 

 

Job scope: 

• Full time position. 
• Company office in Tel Aviv.  
• Travel may be required from time to time.
