About the Role

Working directly with the Engineering team, the Manufacturing Technician will design, construct, test, operate and maintain the Daytona Launch Vehicle propulsion and avionics systems. The Manufacturing Technician may work on various integration projects involving propulsion components, vehicle tubing fabrication, electrical systems, and Daytona Launch Vehicle integration and test. Ideal candidates will have liquid-propellant, launch-vehicle integration experience, and will be able to support various subsystem development projects in support of Phantom’s Daytona program.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare, setup, assemble, test, repair and install flight hardware
  • Hands-on operations with large and small fragile assemblies
  • Set up and operate machinery safely and effectively, including completing required equipment maintenance checks
  • Perform operations per specifications on drawing/print and documented procedures
  • Comply with internal quality systems and procedures
  • Work to improve manufacturing productivity and reduce production costs
  • Assist in the design, development, modification and implementation of equipment and processes to aid in the overall manufacturing process
  • Ensure proper use of all safety regulations and equipment used in manufacturing
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times
  • Directly interface with Engineering and Program personnel to ensure commitments, schedules, and obligations are met
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, machines and precision calibrated tooling
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Good understanding of quality control principles
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Participate in on-the-job training
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Associates degree in a technical field OR High school diploma, plus five (5) years minimum of related manufacturing experience
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Ability to assist in problem analysis and independent decision making
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools
  • Knowledge of pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices; mechanical and electrical systems; and/or propulsion engines
  • Ability to read and decipher engineering drawings and manufacturing procedures
  • High attention to detail
  • Able to multi-task
  • Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position
  • Experience in the aerospace industry, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environment
  • Experience with forklifts, cranes and heavy transport equipment
  • Experience in automated welding processes
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to effectively use the English language, both oral and written, to communicate information to others

ITAR Requirements: This position requires compliance with U.S. Government space technology trade restrictions, specifically the International Trafficking in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and additional regulations governing satellite, launch vehicle, missile, and other related technologies.  All jobs restricted by these regulations will be contingent upon the applicant’s status as a documented U.S. Person or their ability to receive a trade license from the cognizant government agency; in addition to any required company background checks and in compliance with applicable U.S. laws.  Similarly, positions requiring the ability to work on government contracts or a security clearance are also contingent upon the applicants ability to receive the appropriate clearance and be allowed to work on U.S. government contracts.
