What You’ll Do: 

The Software Test Engineer is responsible for verifying mission critical ground software applications that operate one of the world’s largest satellite networks. This individual must be an experienced tester and will work as part of the development team to develop test plans, run tests, operate testing software, analyze test results, and provide technical leadership.  This individual will assume an integral role in the software development process, the integration & test process, and in supporting major program milestones. The candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work with minimal supervision and have experience working in an agile team environment.

The candidate should provide support to operations during normal working hours. The candidate may occasionally provide after-hours support for critical satellite operations or similar critical events.  The Software Test Engineer plays an integral role in the successful operations of the OneWeb constellation.

Duties will include:

• Develop a defense-in-depth test strategy for software verification and validation throughout the software development lifecycle
• Write test plans and test procedures
• Work closely with software engineers and subject matter experts to design testability into the software design
• Execute manual and automated software testing
• Document test results
• Perform regression tests and integration tests
• Support and analyze unit testing and system testing efforts
• Work closely with developers and production engineers to develop and operate a build and release process to reduce systemic errors

What It Takes: 

• 3-5 years testing Java and or Python applications
• 3-5 years testing RESTful web applications
• Experience with software test tools (e.g. Postman)
• Experience writing test plans and procedures
• Demonstrated ability to work with software developers in an integrated and agile team environment
• Demonstrated ability to work independently when necessary
• High level of problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to work in an environment with rapidly evolving system requirements
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

What We’d Love:

• Advanced Linux skills and experience testing AWS native applications
• NoSQL database experience is highly desirable
• Experience working in virtualized and containerized environments
• Space operations experience is helpful, but not required
• Bachelor of Science, BS in a Computer Science or Engineering related field, additional education and training through an advanced technical degree or continuous learning is highly desired
