Electrical Engineer II - Power

Summary

The Electrical Engineer II - Power is responsible for designing, testing, and integrating in-flight and pre-flight Power systems to ensure full power distributions to the launch vehicle and ground support systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop launch vehicle and ground system power systems designs and specifications to meet program requirements.
  • Analyze COTS and vendor-proposed flight and GSE power systems and subsystems to include all stages of power needs ground and flight.
  • Collaborate on a cross-functional team to capture requirements and interfa­­­­­­ce specifications.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure cross-system concerns are identified and addressed.
  • Participate design reviews and incorporate feedback.
  • Participate in design reviews for other subsystems.
  • In-house test procedure development and oversight.
  • Some experience in Quality assurance as it pertains to test.
  • Rigorous test & integration of vehicle and ground telemetry systems with all interfacing systems or subsystem in collaboration with Vaya Space contractors
  • Troubleshoot anomalies real-time and provide solutions during non-conformance scenarios.
  • Reduce, analyze, and archive test data to support verification tasks. 

 

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET accredited university with 2-4 years’ experience.
  • Hands-on lab experience troubleshooting and testing power system designs.
  • Experience with data acquisition tools, hardware, and software for lab and mission logging.
  • Experience with Interface Control Documents
  • Familiar with NEC (National Electric Code)
  • Experience working with and leading in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills (written, verbal, and graphical).
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work rapidly with minimal supervision on projects involving both small and large engineering teams.
  • Exhibits a strong safety work ethic.
  • Experience with aerospace design
  • Ability to read electrical schematics/layout designs.
  • Utilize software to design schematics and layout prototype printed circuit boards.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as necessary.
  • US Person as defined in 22 CFR Part 120.15 (U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees and those given asylum in the United States, and temporary residents granted amnesty) since work includes ITAR controlled technical data.


Preferred Skills and Education

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience designing and testing launch vehicle or satellite power systems
  • Demonstrated Engineering leadership roles on aerospace design throughout the lifecycle (to include but not limited to development, requirements definition, design, development, testing, and operations)
  • Experience with software tools for design and layout, collaboration suites such as Siemens TeamCenter and/or other PLM suites
  • Experience managing subcontracts.
  • Experience in wiring discipline and harnessing.
