ispace EUROPE is seeking a highly motivated and talented IT SPECIALIST to join its team.
 
Our vision is to expand and sustain humanity’s presence in space by developing a lunar economy built on the resources available on the Moon.
 
As the regional office of ispace inc., we are creating the first lunar resource exploration service by developing ispace’s next generation rovers that will prospect for lunar water and other resources. We are a small, international team motivated by the challenges of the Lunar Frontier and determined to achieve the company’s vision.
 
This is a unique opportunity to join a truly fascinating project to explore resources on the Moon. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining the IT infrastructure of the ispace Europe office on the premises and in the cloud as well as support users.
 
ISPACE EUROPE is looking for an IT SPECIALIST to maintain the computer networks of all types of organisations, providing technical support and ensuring the whole company runs smoothly. IT Specialist role consists in monitoring and maintaining the company computer systems, installs, and configures hardware and software, and solves technical issues as they arise.
 
The position is based in Luxembourg and reports to the Engineering Manager (CTO Group). It will closely collaborate with ispace EUROPE’s team members

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with space systems engineers, mission control, and data scientists to understand IT requirements for various space missions and projects
  • Design, deploy, and maintain IT systems, networks, and infrastructure to support space operations and data analysis on the premises or in the cloud
  • Ensure the integrity, availability, and security of IT systems, including cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive space-related data
  • Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and availability in case of system failures or emergencies
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot network components, servers, storage systems, and communication links
  • Collaborate with external vendors and partners to integrate specialized software and tools into the IT environment
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to propose and implement innovative IT solutions for space missions
  • Contribute to documentation, including system architecture, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides
  • Being aware of Security frameworks NIST, ISO27001:2022 and CUI frameworks
  • Maintain documentation and experience with ITIL processes
  • Work directly with AWS and space agencies in Luxembourg, US and Japan

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or Engineering
  • +3 years of proven experience as a System administrator, Network engineer or similar role
  • Experience troubleshooting systems
  • Skilled in database programming and software installation
  • Proficient with MAC and OS
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Minimum Requirements

  • Prior experience with Azure or AWS cloud deployment & management required
  • High-level knowledge of commonly used software, hardware and applications
  • Strong oral communication skills to gather information from employees and explain complex technical concepts in simple language
  • Demonstrated written communication skills to create useful support logs
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and diagnose issues
  • Time management skills to provide updates and fixes within a promised time frame
  • Multitasking skills to assist multiple employees at once
  • Observational skills to recognize warning signs that indicate potential problems
  • Customer service skills to interact professionally and positively with employees and coworkers
  • Experience in the space industry is an added-value.
  • Knowledge of French is an asset but not mandatory

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to create scripts in bash (Linux), batch (Windows), Python or other language
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery

  • Must able to quickly develop subject matter expertise in new subjects
  • Exhibit sound judgment and understanding of system-level impact of design choices
  • Be highly organized and capable of planning and executing complex technical work with little oversight
  • Thrive in multi-disciplinary environment in close cooperation with engineering and business teams
  • Have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Show initiative, ownership, accountability, resourcefulness, and positive can-do attitude
  • Be comfortable with change and fast-paced environment
